What is Private Cloud? Defination of Private Cloud

Private cloud is a cloud computing infrastructure dedicated to a single customer. It combines many benefits of the cloud computing with the additional security and control of on-premises IT infrastructure. However, As with other types of cloud computing architecture, it offers extended, virtualized computing resources. And with physical components stored on-premises or at a customer’s datacenter. So, One of the main benefits of a private cloud architecture is the enhanced degree of control provided to the companies.

As the private cloud is only accessible to a single business, that companies has the ability to configure the environment and manage it in a manner that is uniquely tailored to the specific computing needs of the company. However, A privatecloud architecture may be consist of hardware hosted locally at a facility owned by a business. Or cloud service provider can host it. Virtual private clouds are mainly paid for on a rolling basis. But provisioned hardware and storage configurations maintain the advantages of a secure, exclusive network.

How Private Cloud Works?

A private cloud is a single-tenant architecture, meaning the companies using it don’t need to share resources with other users. There arevarioys ways to host and manage this resources. It is based on resources and infrastructure already present in an company’s on-premises data center or on new, separate infrastructure. Which is provided by a third-party organization. It is possible to do single tenant environment soley using virtualization software. Generally, the privatecloud and its resources are provided to a single user.

The private cloud is one of three typical models for cloud deployment in an organization: public, private and hybrid. All three models share common basic elements of cloud architecture. For example, all clouds need an operating system to work. However, the various types of software including virtualization and container software. Stacked on top of the operating system is what decide how the cloud will work, and differential from other main models.

Structure of Private cloud

Single-tenant design aside, It is based on the same architecture as other clouds technologies, that enable the customer to provision and configure virtual servers and data resources on demand. In order to quickly and easily scale in response to spikes in usage and traffic. And also to implement redundancy for high availability, and to optimize utilization of resources overall. This includes:

Virtualization

Virtualization enables IT resources to be differentiation from their underlying physical hardware and pooled into unbounded resource pools of computing, storage, memory, and networking capacity. Which can then portioned among multiple virtual machines (VMs), containers, or other virtualized IT infrastructure elements. By removing the constraints of physical hardware, virtualization offers maximum utilization of hardware, allows hardware to be shared across multiple users and applications. And makes possible the scalability, agility, and elasticity of the private cloud.

Automation

This speed up tasks such as server provisioning and integrations. That would otherwise need to be performed manually and repeatedly. Automation make the need for human intervention less, making self-service data delivery possible.

Management software

This gives organization centralized control over the structure and applications running on it. This makes it possible to optimize security, availability, and resource utilization in the private cloud architecture.

Private cloud users can make cloud native application architectures and practices. For example, DevOps, containers, and microservices that can bring even greater efficiency and flexibility and enable a smooth transition to a public cloud or hybrid cloud architecture in the future.

Types of Private Clouds

Managed Private Cloud

Managed private cloud is simply a hosted infrastructure in which the cloud provider manages every aspect of the cloud for the company. Like deploying additional services such as identity management and storage. This type is good for companies that don’t have the staff that is equipped to manage private cloud environments alone.

Virtual Private Cloud

This is a walled-off architecture within a public cloud that allows a companies to run their workloads in isolation from every other user of the public cloud. Even though the server is shared by other organizations, the virtual logic ensures that a user’s computing resources are private. Organizations can use a VPC to enable hybrid cloud deployment.

VPC customers can get benefit from the public cloud’s resource availability, scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. This all while retaining much of the security and control of privatecloud. In General, a VPC will be less expensive to build and easy to manage than an on-premises privatecloud.

Hosted Private Cloud

Hosted cloud don’t shrae servers with other companies. The service provider configures the network, maintains the hardware and updates the software, but the server is always occupied by a single organization.

Private Cloud Provider

organizations that are interested in private cloud can benefit from working with a private cloud service provider. So, A private cloud is commonly based on premises in much the same way a business would build and operate its own traditional data center. Now there are many vendors who provide privatecloud infrastructure.

Microsoft

Microsoft offers Azure Stack solution which can brings the power of an advanced cloud to any corporate data center. Azure is ready for hybridization, this means companies can take full benefits of compliance offerings while taking care from the full Azure cloud solution. Each cloud provider has a unique set of cloud service.

Oracle

Oracle provides it’s PrivateCloud Appliance X8, which ables compute and storage capabilities optimized for cloud deployment.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)

HPE has been a major provider in the private and hybrid cloud computing market for years. They offer robust services with support for any business need. However, Clients can choose the hardware and network configurations to optimize storage and computing needs.

IBM

It offers privatecloud architecture, along with IBM Cloud Managed Services, cloud security tools and cloud management and orchestration tools.

Cisco

Cisco as privatecloud providers offers on-demand architecture, automated container management and advanced application performance management. However, Cisco solutions offers data security that moves with workloads to enhance compliance.

Dell EMC

Dell is also virtual privatecloud services provider providing cloud management and cloud security software.

VMware

Thsi provides virtualization with it’s vSphere product and gives it’s vRealize Suite cloud management platform and Cloud Foundation Software-Defined Data Center platform for private clouds.
